Trekking enthusiasts will find a true natural paradise in Maremma, with the trail network of the Maremma Natural Park offering over 100 km of marked paths. Particularly enchanting is the trail that climbs the Monti dell'Uccellina, where the challenging ascents are rewarded with stunning panoramas stretching from the hills to the turquoise sea and the Argentario. In spring, these paths are colored with wild orchids and fragrant Mediterranean scrub, and it’s easy to spot hawks soaring high in the sky.
For those seeking immersive experiences in unspoiled nature, we recommend excursions to the wetlands of Diaccia Botrona or the Orbetello Reserve, true sanctuaries for birdlife where, equipped with binoculars, you can observe pink flamingos, herons, and many other species. The flatter trails, such as the one following the Ombrone River to its mouth, are also ideal for families with children, offering the opportunity to discover together the secrets of a unique ecosystem where human activity has managed to respect the rhythms and balance of nature.

Trekking by sea Follonica - Torre Mozza - Carbonifera
The itinerary is an easy and picturesque circular route located in Tuscany, near Follonica. With a length of 14.51 km and minimal elevation gain (1 m uphill and 1 m downhill), the trail runs mostly along the coast, offering breathtaking views and the opportunity to briefly walk in shallow water. The total duration is approximately 3 hours and 19 minutes, with a maximum altitude of 14 m.
From Follonica center to Cala Violina
This itinerary is a 23.93 km circular route, perfect for those seeking a walk immersed in nature. With a positive elevation gain of 253 m and an easy technical difficulty, the trail starts from the center of Follonica, near the train station, and follows bike and pedestrian paths to Puntone, before crossing the final 4 km in the nature reserve towards Cala Martina and Cala Violina. It takes approximately 6 hours and 17 minutes, so it is recommended for individuals with a moderate level of fitness, preferably outside the summer months. A scenic and relaxing experience, particularly suitable for trekking enthusiasts.
Montioni Park: The Pievaccia
The itinerary is a fascinating trekking excursion immersed in the nature of the Val di Cornia, between Follonica and Suvereto. With a length of 15 km and an elevation gain of 450 meters, the intermediate-level trail winds through enchanting forests and dirt roads, leading to the medieval ruins of La Pievaccia, an impressive fortified ecclesiastical complex located on Poggio Chiecco. From the top of the tower, one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Follonica and the Val di Cornia. Along the route, it's possible to admire the natural "cathedrals" formed by the trees and visit the ancient Alum Quarries. This full-day excursion is ideal for nature and history enthusiasts, rewarding every effort with its beauty.
