The course
Immersed in Mediterranean greenery
Approximately 6300m in length from the yellow tee markers, our par 72 championship golf course consists of 18 holes designed to avoid any hint of repetitiveness, with highly technical par 4 dog-legs followed by treacherous par threes, or long uphill or downhill par 5 stretches, for a fun course that every guest will be sure to remember. From the wide Bermuda grass fairways, which are often surrounded by thick olive groves, players can enjoy marvellous views of the Gulf of Follonica and the island of Elba.
A long par 4 with a dogleg left; the rather delicate first stroke has a water hazard on the right, and an out of bounds area on the left. On the second stroke, the green is shielded by two large bunkers on the sides
A short uphill par 3 of about 135m; the green is shielded by 2 large bunkers at the front and one on the side; watch out for the out of bounds area that runs along the entire left side of the fairway
An easy downhill par 4 of about 370m. The left side of the fairway is shielded by a row of olive trees, which makes it difficult to reach the green on the second stroke if the ball doesn’t land squarely on the fairway.
Long uphill par 5 (course hcp 1) of over 500m. While the hole doesn’t pose any particular technical difficulties, not everyone will make it onto the green in 3 strokes, especially with strong headwinds!
A wide downhill par 4: the two-tiered green is shielded by 3 bunkers, which surround it almost entirely
An uphill par 3 of about 150m. The right side of the green is shielded by a small water hazard, and there are two bunkers, one to the left and one behind.
A treacherous par 4 with a dogleg right. The first stroke can be played straight towards the lake, which is about 180m from the yellow tee markers; those who are feeling more courageous can try to cut the dogleg right, but risk ending up in the rough, among the olive trees. The second uphill stroke towards the flag is obstructed by two bunkers shielding the front of the green.
An uphill par 4 with a slight dogleg right. The large green is shielded by bunkers on the sides
A downhill par 5 with a sharp dogleg right; attempting to cut the dogleg on the first stroke is risky due to the water hazard on the right side of the fairway; the second stroke is also therefore rendered more treacherous by the presence of the large lake on the right; however, the green is large and single-tiered.
A par 4 with a small ditch on the left, about 200m from the yellow tee markers, which won't pose a hazard for most players. The green is surrounded by 3 bunkers
A par 4 with a large cork tree standing right in the middle of the fairway; the decision is whether to go over or under it! The green is wide, and is shielded by 2 side bunkers.
A long uphill par 5 with a dogleg left that compels the player to attack the green. The left side of the fairway is flanked by a water hazard, while the right side borders on an out of bounds area.
The pearl of the Riva Toscana golf course! A short 125 metre par 3 that’s sure to dazzle every player with its spectacular view of the entire Tuscan archipelago. Be careful not to go long on the first stroke, as the back of the green borders on an area covered in wild vegetation, where it will be nearly impossible to find your ball.
A long uphill par 4; the entire length of the fairway’s right side borders on an out of bounds area. The two-tier green is shielded by two side bunkers
An intriguing downhill par 5 with a dogleg right; those who are feeling more courageous can attempt to cut it, but risk ending up in a ditch, or worse, in the out of bounds area to the right of the fairway. On days with favourable winds, players with longer drives can try to make it to the green in two strokes!
A slightly uphill par 4 with a dogleg right. The dogleg is shielded by a bunker, which makes life difficult for those who try to cut it. The large green is shielded by one front bunker and two on the sides
A par 4 downhill dogleg; once again, a bunker skilfully positioned on the fairway will make it rather difficult to cut on the first stroke. With water hazards on three sides, the downhill approach to the green is nerve-racking!
The course concludes with a 180m par 3 that’s usually played with a headwind; the green is shielded by two side bunkers; a cold beer is an absolute must after this hole!
